His Excellency Dr. Salim Ibrahim Bin Ahmed Mohammed Alnaqbi, the UAE Ambassador to Kenya, paid a courtesy visit to the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI) today, where discussions focused on strengthening economic ties between the two countries. The meeting highlighted the role that KNCCI will play in mobilizing Kenya's private sector to take full advantage of the newly signed Kenya-UAE Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA).
The CEPA, which was signed between Kenya and the UAE, aims to enhance trade and investment opportunities, particularly in sectors where both countries have strong interests. KNCCI, as the key business representative body in Kenya, is set to lead efforts in guiding local businesses on how to navigate and benefit from the agreement.
During the meeting, KNCCI CEO Ahmed Farah, HSC, provided an overview of the upcoming World Chambers Federation (WCF) Africa Summit, scheduled to take place from April 9-11, 2025, at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre (KICC) in Nairobi. Farah extended an official invitation to Ambassador Alnaqbi and the UAE Embassy to partner in the Summit, which will bring together global business leaders to discuss key economic issues and opportunities in Africa.
H.E. Dr. Alnaqbi expressed strong enthusiasm for the WCF Africa Summit, recognizing its potential to foster greater business collaboration between Kenya, the UAE, and the wider African continent. He indicated a keen interest in collaborating with KNCCI to ensure the success of the event and to further cement the economic partnership between the UAE and Kenya.
The visit underscores the growing importance of economic diplomacy between Kenya and the UAE, with both countries eager to deepen their commercial ties and create new avenues for investment and trade. The partnership between KNCCI and the UAE Embassy is seen as a crucial step in realizing the full potential of the CEPA, with both parties committed to supporting private sector growth in Kenya.
