Uasin Gishu Roads Department Welcomes New Chief Officer Geoffrey Kirwa Tanui

Uasin Gishu County Executive for Roads, Transport, and Public Works, Eng. Joseph Lagat, has expressed the administration's unwavering commitment to delivering exceptional services to county residents as he warmly welcomed Geoffrey Kirwa Tanui, the newly appointed Chief Officer for the department. The meeting, held on Tuesday, marked Tanui’s first day as Chief Officer, taking over from Engineer Abraham Kiptalam.

Eng. Lagat led the inaugural meeting, emphasizing the importance of the roads department in fulfilling Governor Dr. Jonathan Bii's vision for Uasin Gishu, particularly the focus on infrastructure development, encapsulated in Nguzo number six of the Governor’s development agenda. Lagat highlighted the critical role the department plays in the realization of the county’s prosperity.

“I believe you will fit into this docket very quickly. The residents of Uasin Gishu have high expectations from this department. Let us continue to consult regularly and find solutions as we work towards greater achievements. Our goal is to deliver quality road projects throughout the entire county,” Eng. Lagat stated.

In his address, the newly appointed Chief Officer, Geoffrey Kirwa Tanui, expressed his enthusiasm and readiness to work with the team. He underscored the importance of delivering on the development goals outlined by Governor Bii.

“I am happy to join this competent and experienced team. It’s all about delivery, and we must work hard to deliver for the people of Uasin Gishu. I will give my full support and goodwill to ensure the successful implementation of the projects earmarked for this term,” Tanui remarked.

Also present at the meeting were key department officials including Eng. Julius Ronoh (Roads), Benjamin Kirongo (Public Works), Lazarus Sile (Fire and Rescue), Eng. Abraham Misoi (Transport and Mechanical), Mark Tarus (Director Administration), and Stella Birech (Human Resource).

The appointment of Tanui is expected to bring fresh leadership and momentum to the Roads Department as the Governor's administration continues to prioritize infrastructure development in Uasin Gishu. The county is focused on improving road networks, enhancing transport systems, and fostering economic growth for the residents.
