In a move that solidifies the merger between the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Party and the Amani National Congress (ANC), UDA has incorporated key former ANC members into its leadership structure. The announcement was made by UDA Party Chairperson, H.E. Cecily Mbarire, who outlined the new leadership appointments and branding changes.
Former ANC Party Leader, Issa Timamy, has been named UDA’s Deputy Party Leader, marking a significant leadership shift within the merged entity. Timamy’s new role underscores the growing influence of former ANC leaders in UDA’s organizational framework. Hon. Omboko Milemba, the Member of Parliament for Emuhaya, has also been appointed to serve as the Deputy Secretary General of UDA, a position he previously held at ANC. He will now work alongside Senator Hassan Omar, who continues to serve as the Secretary General.
In addition, Kevin Lunani has been appointed as UDA’s Vice Chairperson, further strengthening the party's leadership with experienced individuals from ANC.
Governor Mbarire also unveiled a significant rebranding move for the party, revealing that UDA had adopted ANC’s identity symbols. The new logo, imagery, typography, and overall branding reflect the integration of both parties and the unified direction the merged party is headed.
“The incorporation of former ANC leaders into the UDA leadership is a testament to the unity and strength we are building as a party,” Governor Mbarire said in her statement. "This is a new chapter, and we are fully committed to ensuring that our combined efforts serve the best interests of the people."
The leadership appointments and rebranding come as the merged UDA Party seeks to consolidate its position in the political landscape, signaling a shift towards greater unity and broader representation ahead of upcoming elections.
