Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka has officially sworn in nine members of the Bungoma and Kimilili Municipal Boards, a critical step that fulfills the necessary requirements to unlock Ksh 800 million in World Bank funding for infrastructure development in the two municipalities.
Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony held at the County Headquarters, Governor Lusaka hailed the occasion as a significant milestone in Bungoma's urban development agenda.
"With the appointment of these nine members, Bungoma and Kimilili municipalities are now fully constituted.
This achievement positions us to access World Bank funding aimed at transforming our urban infrastructure," he stated.
Lusaka urged the newly sworn-in board members to focus on service delivery rather than political distractions, emphasizing their responsibility to serve the people diligently.
"You must work together to fulfill your mandate. Minimize internal conflicts and prioritize the development of our towns," he advised.
The governor further revealed that plans to gazette Webuye and Chwele municipalities were at an advanced stage, a move expected to catalyze further urban expansion and modernization in the county.
The newly appointed members of the Bungoma Municipal Board include Paul Kamala, Wilkister Wafula, Job Munyasia, and Dorcas Katiambo.
Their Kimilili counterparts are Caroline Wanyonyi, Dennis Barasa, Samson Sichangi, Ziprine Wamalwa, and Abigael Wafula.
