The Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK) Mt. Kenya West Diocese has appointed Ven. Canon Rev. Gerald Mureithi as its third Bishop, a momentous occasion that signals a new chapter for the diocese and its followers.
The announcement came following a unanimous election by the House of Bishops, marking the start of Rev. Mureithi's leadership over a vital region known for its strong Anglican presence. Rev. Mureithi, who has served the church with dedication for many years, will now take on the monumental task of shepherding the faithful across the Diocese, which encompasses several counties in the Mt. Kenya region.
In a heartfelt message of congratulations, former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua expressed his profound joy over the election, sending blessings to the newly appointed Bishop. “May God give you the wisdom, the grace, the discernment, and the knowledge necessary for you to serve Him ably, as you shepherd the Christians of the ACK Diocese of Mt. Kenya West,” said Gachagua.
Gachagua further emphasized the importance of divine guidance as Rev. Mureithi embarks on this new role, with a call to lead with humility and integrity, ensuring that the Diocese continues to grow spiritually and in its community outreach.
Rev. Mureithi’s election follows an extensive period of prayer, reflection, and spiritual discernment within the Diocese. His leadership is expected to focus on the spiritual well-being of the Church’s congregation, alongside strengthening the Church’s impact on social and community issues in the Mt. Kenya region.
Known for his deep commitment to service, Rev. Mureithi brings years of pastoral experience and a wealth of theological knowledge, having served in various leadership roles within the ACK Church. He succeeds Bishop Julius Njoroge, whose tenure saw remarkable growth and transformation in the Diocese.
The election of Ven. Canon Rev. Gerald Mureithi is being celebrated across the region, with faithful members of the ACK Mt. Kenya West Diocese expressing their hope and confidence in his ability to guide them spiritually and minister to their needs.
As the Diocese enters this new phase, the church leaders and the faithful alike pray for a season of growth, renewal, and peace under the leadership of their new Bishop
