Eldoret came alive on Friday as Coca-Cola’s returnable glass bottle campaign brought excitement to the city ahead of the National Cross Country Championships. Residents gathered to celebrate and relive the nostalgia of enjoying Coca-Cola in its classic glass bottle, a symbol of shared moments and refreshment for generations.
The nationwide campaign, currently running across Kenya—including Nairobi, Eastern, Western, Nyanza, Coast, Rift Valley, and Mount Kenya—aims to revive appreciation for the iconic returnable glass bottle. For the past three months, Coca-Cola teams have been engaging communities, inviting consumers to rediscover the joy of drinking Coca-Cola in glass.
Since January, Coca-Cola caravans have toured Rift Valley counties, making stops in Kericho, Uasin Gishu, Nandi, Bomet, Baringo, Elgeyo Marakwet, and Narok. Through interactive events, residents have been reconnecting with the brand’s heritage and the timeless appeal of its returnable glass bottles.
Priced as low as KES 20 for a 200ml bottle, the returnable glass option remains an affordable and familiar choice for students, families, and social gatherings.
More than just a beverage, Coca-Cola in a returnable glass bottle is a cultural touchstone that has brought Kenyans together for decades. Whether enjoyed ice-cold or at room temperature, it continues to evoke cherished memories of togetherness.
Eunice Ogachi from Kisii, now residing in Eldoret, shared her thoughts: “Coca-Cola has given me a soda, and it has brought back memories of our great old days when we used to enjoy Coca-Cola in a glass bottle. It’s such a nostalgic feeling.”
Jefferson Oduor reminisced, saying: “I started drinking Coca-Cola at a young age, and I’m happy to be using this same glass bottle again. It takes me back to my childhood days.”
Jeremiah expressed his gratitude, stating: “I’m really happy for the company for giving us free sodas. This bottle reminds me of when I was young in 1988. Whenever my throat gets dry, I reach for this, and it brings back so many fond memories.”
As Coca-Cola embraces innovation, the returnable glass bottle remains a symbol of community and connection. This campaign is not just about refreshment—it’s about celebrating tradition, strengthening bonds, and uniting Kenyans, one bottle at a time.
