Correctional Services Principal Secretary, Dr. Salome Beacco, has called on staff within the Department to demonstrate unwavering commitment to excellence in their duties, underscoring the importance of efficient service delivery for the benefit of the public.
Speaking at a breakfast meeting held at the Prison Staff Training College in Ruiru, Dr. Beacco addressed staff as they set the agenda for the year ahead. She emphasized that the department’s mandate is centered around serving the common good of the citizenry, and therefore, officers must uphold the highest standards of professionalism and integrity.
Dr. Beacco urged officers to embody hard work and consistency in their roles while proactively addressing challenges to effectively fulfill the department's objectives. She highlighted that the success of the department hinges on each individual’s dedication to their responsibilities.
The PS also reminded staff about the importance of maintaining a healthy work-life balance. She encouraged officers to take full advantage of the wellness programs available and seek support when necessary. Dr. Beacco stressed that mental and physical well-being are crucial for optimal service delivery, and officers should prioritize caring for their families and fostering positive relationships with loved ones.
In addition, the PS called on department heads to hold regular staff meetings and cultivate an environment of open communication. She noted that creating a supportive work atmosphere helps in resolving challenges and ultimately leads to better performance.
