The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has officially joined the Confederation of Micro and Small Enterprises Organizations of East Africa (CMSEO-EA), marking a significant milestone in the region’s efforts to unify and empower the informal sector.
Richard Muteti, HSC, the Chief Executive Officer of CMSEO-EA and Chairman of the COMESA Business Council SMEs Work-Group, led the welcoming ceremony for Mr. Simon Muamba, the National Chairman of the Confederation of Micro and Small Enterprises Organization of DRC. This strategic move enhances regional cooperation and representation for micro and small enterprises, ensuring their voices are heard in policy formulation and economic development discussions across the East African Community (EAC).
CMSEO-EA serves as the regional umbrella body advocating for the interests of the informal sector, which plays a crucial role in driving economic growth, employment, and innovation. With DRC’s inclusion, the confederation is poised to strengthen cross-border trade, knowledge-sharing, and capacity-building initiatives aimed at uplifting small businesses across the region.
