Eldoret Human Rights Activist Kipkorir Ngetich Condemns Reckless Statements by Former Deputy President

Human rights activist Kipkorir Ngetich has strongly condemned the continuous reckless and irresponsible statements made by the former Deputy President, warning that they are a serious threat to the unity and stability of the country. Ngetich's statement came in response to the former Deputy President’s allegations that His Excellency President William Ruto had attempted to bribe him with 2 billion shillings and that MPs were allegedly offered 500k to impeach him.

Ngetich emphasized that these claims are both misleading and dangerous, aimed at destabilizing the country and undermining the leadership of President Ruto. “We are fully aware that the impeachment process was conducted openly, in accordance with the established parliamentary proceedings and in line with the provisions of the Constitution,” he stated.

The human rights activist further warned that the former Deputy President’s reckless utterances could set the country on a dangerous path. "His statements are not only malicious but could ignite tribalism and hatred, potentially tearing this country apart," Ngetich said, referring to the former Deputy President’s attempts to incite division within the nation.

He went on to urge the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to urgently summon the former Deputy President to record a statement and clarify his allegations. "No individual, regardless of their past position, should be allowed to endanger the peace and stability of this country for personal or political gain,” Ngetich asserted.

The activist further pointed out that the former Deputy President’s actions were similar to the tactics used by authoritarian leaders in history, such as Adolf Hitler and Idi Amin, who used divisive rhetoric to achieve political goals. Ngetich warned that if left unchecked, the former Deputy President could instigate renewed animosity between the Kikuyu and Kalenjin communities, particularly with the 2027 elections fast approaching.

He also urged leaders from the Mount Kenya region to take a stand and denounce the dangerous narrative being propagated by the former Deputy President, emphasizing the importance of unity, nationhood, and patriotism. “The leadership from Mount Kenya must demonstrate good leadership by openly condemning these divisive actions,” Ngetich said.

The activist concluded by urging all Kenyans to remain vigilant and united, stressing that the nation’s peace and stability should not be compromised by the selfish political motives of individuals. “It is the right of every Kenyan to see President Ruto maintain peace and unity in this country. We must not allow anyone to misuse the politics of hate and division,” Ngetich warned.

As Kenya approaches the 2027 elections, Ngetich called on the government, security agencies, and citizens to stay alert to any forces that may seek to disrupt the country’s peace and sow discord among communities. The call for unity and peace was echoed by many, as Kenya’s future depends on collective efforts to safeguard its hard-won stability.
