As the world celebrates Valentine's Day today, students of Eldoret National Polytechnic have been urged to stay safe as they show love to those they cherish.
Speaking during an interview, the students' female representative, Juliet Mokera, challenged her fellow comrades to understand the true meaning of Valentine’s Day. Mokera emphasized that love should be expressed to everyone around them, not just to couples. She also stressed that safety and security should come first.
"Please stay safe. Whatever happens today, make sure you are safe. If you choose to drink, please drink responsibly," advised Mokera, noting that reckless behavior could have lifelong consequences.
As a leader and female students' representative, Mokera urged polytechnic girls to exercise caution and prioritize their safety. She emphasized that Valentine's Day should not ruin any student's life.
"To my ladies, Happy Valentine’s! I love you all. Valentine’s is just for a day and will pass, so please take care of yourselves. Don't push yourselves into parenthood at an early age because of Valentine’s Day. Please be safe," concluded Mokera.
Her sentiments were echoed by Benjamin Ochieng, alias Black Model, the former Mr. Eldoret National Polytechnic. Ochieng stated that Valentine's Day should be made special by showing love to all students, stressing that the day is not only for couples.
"Today is a special day for us as comrades—14th of February. It’s not just a time to show love to those in relationships but to all students," said Benjamin.
