Faith Kipyegon to Compete at the 4th Absa Sirikwa Classic World Athletics Cross Country Tour

The fourth edition of the Absa Sirikwa Classic World Athletics Cross Country Tour, Gold Level, is set to be an exciting and thrilling event, and I am thrilled to announce that three-time Olympic Champion Faith Kipyegon will be competing. Kipyegon, who triumphed in the 2023 edition, will be back to defend her title, adding to the competitive allure of this prestigious race.

This year’s event promises to be exhilarating, with top-tier athletes from over 14 nations coming together to showcase their talents. Kipyegon will face off against several elite competitors, including world 10km record holder Agnes Jebet Ng’etich, as well as some of Kenya’s finest athletes. Among the strong Kenyan contingent are 5000m World Championships silver medalist Jacob Krop and 10,000m World Championships silver medalist Stanley Waithaka, both of whom are expected to bring their A-game to the competition.

The event will not only feature Kenyan talent but will also see strong contenders from Ethiopia, Uganda, Tanzania, and several European nations, ensuring a truly international field. This diverse mix of athletes will make for a highly competitive race that promises to keep spectators on the edge of their seats.

Athletics Kenya has done an outstanding job in organizing this event, ensuring it adheres to World Athletics standards and regulations. Their commitment to excellence is evident in every aspect of the race's planning and execution.

We are also incredibly grateful to the government and our title sponsor, ABSA, for their unwavering support in making this event possible. Their partnership is key in ensuring that the Absa Sirikwa Classic continues to grow and attract the best athletic talent from around the world.

I encourage spectators to join us in large numbers to witness this showcase of athletic excellence. It will be an unforgettable experience filled with fierce competition and incredible performances.

We would like to extend our thanks to Mr. Abraham Mutai, the Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee (LOC), and Mr. Kennedy Tanui, the Director of Competition, for their dedicated efforts in preparing for this exciting event. With their leadership, we are confident that the 2024 Absa Sirikwa Classic will be a resounding success.

Don’t miss out on this exciting and prestigious event!
