In a powerful endorsement for the African Union (AU) leadership, former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has hailed Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga as the finest candidate for the Chairmanship of the African Union Commission. Gachagua emphasized that Raila's vast experience, unwavering dedication to Africa’s progress, and Pan-African spirit make him the best choice to lead the continent into a prosperous and united future.
“Raila Odinga embodies the very essence of leadership that Africa needs. His vision for the continent is grounded in the belief that we, as Africans, must work together to forge a future of peace, stability, and economic prosperity. Raila's passion for Pan-Africanism is unparalleled, and his track record of championing the rights and interests of the African people speaks volumes,” said Gachagua.
Drawing attention to Raila's commitment to bridging the divide between the Anglophone and Francophone nations of Africa, Gachagua noted that his leadership style would unite the continent in ways that have never been seen before. “We need a character like Raila to help unite our diverse linguistic and cultural groups. His inclusive leadership can harmonize both the Anglophone and Francophone halves of Africa and forge a united front for the future,” he added.
Gachagua also recalled Raila's recent victory in Addis Ababa, which he sees as a powerful symbol of his unyielding dedication to the Pan-African cause. “His win in Addis Ababa is not just a personal achievement; it is a victory for Africa. It underscores his quest to elevate our continent on the global stage,” said the former Deputy President.
In his remarks, Gachagua expressed confidence that Raila’s leadership would be beneficial not only for Africa but also for Kenya, calling his potential win a “victory for our motherland.” He concluded by urging Africans to rally behind Raila Odinga, stating that his leadership would be both transformative and progressive for the future of Africa.
“Raila Odinga’s win is the win Africa deserves, and his leadership will chart a path towards greater collaboration, peace, and prosperity for all African nations,” Gachagua concluded.
