The government has reiterated its commitment to bringing an end to the alarming cases of abductions in the country and ensuring that those responsible are held accountable. Government Spokesperson Dr. Isaac Mwaura, CBS, emphasized that efforts are being made to investigate these incidents thoroughly and to ensure justice for victims.

Speaking to the media, Dr. Mwaura urged the public to come forward with any information related to abductions, directing them to report their concerns through the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI). “We are committed to investigating and bringing those responsible for these abductions to book. We have asked Kenyans to volunteer information through IPOA and DCI to help us understand what is really happening on the ground. We want to get to the bottom of this issue, so there will be no room for false accusations or counter-accusations,” he stated.

Dr. Mwaura also addressed concerns about some individuals attempting to politicize the issue of abductions, stressing that the government is committed to resolving the matter without any political interference. “It’s crucial that as a government, we speak with one voice. Any issues should be addressed through the appropriate forums, such as cabinet meetings or principal secretary discussions. If there are matters that need to be raised directly with the President, they should be done through the proper channels,” he said.

The spokesperson expressed concern about certain individuals using the abduction crisis to settle political scores, underscoring that such actions are detrimental to the nation’s unity. “We cannot allow the security of our country and the safety of our citizens to be compromised by those seeking to advance their own political agendas. We must prioritize the safety of Kenyans above all else,” Dr. Mwaura said.

He concluded by reiterating the government’s unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of all citizens. “We are committed to ensuring that the government of Kenya remains a safe and secure environment for everyone, and we will take all necessary steps to ensure justice is served in these matters.”
