Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa on Friday presided over the launch of the Butere Boys Secondary School Foundation History Book, a publication documenting the school's journey since its establishment in 1964.
Speaking at the event, Governor Barasa reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting the school’s academic excellence and infrastructure development. He announced plans to construct a modern dormitory and equip the computer lab with 50 new computers in the next financial year as part of the county government's corporate social responsibility.
"Education remains a key pillar of my administration. We are committed to enhancing learning facilities to ensure our students have a conducive environment for academic success," Barasa stated.
The governor also encouraged the Butere Boys Alumni Association to develop a second edition of the book covering the period from 1977 to the present, building on the first edition, which details the school’s early years from 1964 to 1977.
Beyond education, Barasa highlighted ongoing efforts to consolidate Butere Municipality, confirming that its first round of funding is set to finance key infrastructure projects. He further assured residents that the Butere Level IV Hospital will soon be commissioned, promising improved healthcare services for the region.
The event was attended by Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) led by Majority Leader CPA Philip Maina, County Executive Members led by County Secretary Dr. Lawrence Omuhaka, as well as the school’s alumni, staff, and Principal Mr. Habil Malika.
The launch marked a significant milestone in preserving the rich history of Butere Boys Secondary School, celebrating its achievements, and setting the stage for future advancements in both education and community development.
