Uasin Gishu Governor Dr. Jonathan Bii has reaffirmed his administration's unwavering commitment to transparency, accountability, and fostering sustainable economic growth in the county. This was during a strategic meeting focused on county development held earlier this week.
The meeting, which brought together key county officials, was centered on strengthening financial management, boosting revenue collection, and ensuring the timely execution of development projects. Governor Bii emphasized the need for innovative solutions and collaboration to meet the county's development goals.
“We must adopt fresh ideas to tackle economic challenges and work as a united team to realize our vision for Uasin Gishu,” said Dr. Bii.
The Deputy Governor, Hon. Evans Kapkea, stressed the importance of financial discipline. He highlighted that every shilling allocated to the county must be prudently managed to maximize its impact on development.
“Our duty is to ensure that resources are managed effectively and channeled toward tangible progress for our people,” said Kapkea.
During the meeting, the County Executive for Finance, Micah Rogony, provided an update on the county’s budget implementation, ongoing revenue collection efforts, and new measures to reduce unnecessary expenditures.
Chief Officer Eliud Chemaget also shared details on the implementation of new financial systems aimed at enhancing service delivery and ensuring compliance with fiscal policies.
The meeting, facilitated by Johnstone Kotut, identified several critical focus areas for the county’s development, including aligning development projects with available resources to ensure optimal outcomes, investing in infrastructure to improve public services, attracting private investors to stimulate economic growth and job creation, and strengthening revenue collection mechanisms to sustain long-term growth.
A key highlight of the meeting was the presentation of the Sisibo Pay system, a digital platform that has significantly improved revenue collection efficiency by reducing losses and streamlining financial processes.
The meeting was attended by County Executives, Chief Officers, and Directors, all of whom are committed to realizing the county's ambitious development goals.
