Uasin Gishu County has officially kicked off the construction of its state-of-the-art Diagnostic Medical Center, a major milestone in the county's drive to transform its healthcare services. Governor Jonathan Bii presided over the site handover to the contractor this morning, marking the beginning of what is set to be a game-changing healthcare facility for the region.
The diagnostic center, outlined as a flagship project under Governor Bii's Nguzo Kumi blueprint, will provide a wide range of critical medical services aimed at meeting the growing healthcare needs of Uasin Gishu residents. The multi-storey building will house several specialized units, including an Accidents and Emergency section, Orthopedic Services, Ultrasound, Pediatric care, and a Pharmacy and Laboratory.
Additionally, the center will feature an Intensive Care Unit (ICU), a High Dependency Unit (HDU), Modern Theatre Units, as well as Renal, Dental, and Oncology services – all designed to provide world-class medical care. The facility is part of the county’s broader commitment to improving healthcare access and reducing the need for patients to seek treatment outside the county.
Governor Jonathan Bii emphasized the importance of the new medical center during the ceremony. "This project is a key pillar of our vision for a healthier, more self-sufficient Uasin Gishu," said Governor Bii.
