Governor George Natembeya Signs MOU to Improve Mobility for Persons with Disabilities

Trans-Nzoia Governor George Natembeya today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Hope Mobility Kenya in a bid to improve the lives of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in the county. The partnership will provide essential mobility devices to enhance the quality of life for PWDs, helping them navigate their daily activities with greater ease and independence.

Speaking after the signing, Governor Natembeya expressed his commitment to improving the livelihoods of all Trans-Nzoia residents, with a special focus on the needs of PWDs. “This partnership marks a significant step toward ensuring that persons with disabilities in our county receive the support they deserve. As a government, we are unwavering in our dedication to building a more inclusive and supportive society for everyone,” said Natembeya.

The MOU will see the distribution of mobility devices such as wheelchairs and walking aids to those in need, empowering PWDs and promoting their active participation in community life. The governor emphasized the importance of collaboration in creating lasting change, noting that partnerships with organizations like Hope Mobility Kenya are crucial in tackling the challenges faced by PWDs.

“This partnership is a reflection of our administration’s continued efforts to ensure that every person in Trans-Nzoia, regardless of their physical ability, has the opportunity to thrive. Together, we will build a society where all individuals can access the resources and opportunities they need to lead fulfilling lives,” Governor Natembeya added.

The initiative is expected to reach numerous households across the county, offering much-needed assistance to PWDs and ensuring they have the tools required to navigate daily challenges with dignity.

Governor Natembeya concluded his remarks by calling on all stakeholders to join hands in furthering the cause of inclusivity, stressing that every step taken towards accessibility and empowerment is a step toward a stronger and more equitable Trans-Nzoia County.
