Elgeyo Marakwet Governor, Wisely Rotich, has been ranked among the top six most impactful governors in Kenya, according to the latest Infotrak survey. The Countrytrak Performance Index 2024 report highlights the performance of county governments in executing devolved functions, with Rotich earning an impressive 57 percent approval rating.
The survey, which was conducted between October and December 2024, involved a sample of 36,200 Kenyans from all counties. It assessed the effectiveness of county governments in managing 12 core devolved functions, including agriculture, health, education, roads and transport, energy, water, environment, trade and tourism, county planning, and housing.
Rotich shares his position with Makueni Governor Mutula Kilonzo, who also scored 57 percent. The top performers in the survey include Murang'a County Governor Irungu Kang'ata, who received a 68 percent approval rating, followed by George Natembeya of Trans Nzoia at 64 percent. Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga earned 61 percent, while Kisumu Governor Anyang' Nyong'o secured 59 percent.
The Countrytrak Performance Index reflects the public's perception of how well county governments are handling devolved functions, and Governor Rotich's recognition as one of the top performers underscores his significant contribution to the development of Elgeyo Marakwet County.
