In a bold step towards digital empowerment and job creation, Kiambu County Woman Representative, Hon. Ann Wamuratha, has called for the establishment of ICT hubs across the county. During a courtesy call to the Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communication, and Technology (ICT) alongside Hon. William Kabogo Gitau, she emphasized the urgent need to equip Kiambu’s youth and entrepreneurs with essential digital skills to compete in the modern economy.
Recognizing that technology is a key driver of economic transformation, Hon. Wamuratha engaged with the ICT Ministry on ways to leverage government initiatives to set up digital training and innovation hubs. These centers will provide access to computers, high-speed internet, and training in coding, digital marketing, e-commerce, and freelancing. Additionally, they will support small businesses in scaling their operations through technology, opening doors for local entrepreneurs to thrive in the digital space.
Speaking after the meeting, Hon. Wamuratha reaffirmed her dedication to bridging the digital divide in Kiambu, ensuring that women, youth, and small business owners have the tools they need to succeed. "Our young people are talented and innovative, but they lack the necessary resources and exposure to global digital opportunities. By setting up ICT hubs, we will create platforms for skills development, innovation, and self-employment," she stated.
She further noted that ICT hubs will not only empower the youth but also enable small businesses to expand, making technology a powerful tool for economic growth and job creation.
With such visionary leadership, Hon. Ann Wamuratha is setting the stage for a digitally inclusive Kiambu, where technology bridges socio-economic gaps and creates equal opportunities for all.
