Hon. Charles Nguna, the Member of Parliament for Mwingi West, toured Kakongo Market to inspect the ongoing construction of the ultra-modern Kakongo EPS Market, a transformative project aimed at boosting economic activities in the region.

The market, which is being developed at a cost of Ksh 59 million, will feature a range of essential amenities designed to improve the business environment for traders. These include a cold room for storing fresh produce, a mother’s room, social halls, an ICT hub, a printing room, a Sacco office, an ATM booth, and a kitchen. Once completed, the facility is expected to stimulate rural economic growth by promoting micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), in line with the government's economic empowerment agenda.

Speaking during the inspection, Hon. Nguna expressed his commitment to delivering modern infrastructure that benefits local traders and the wider community. “I lobbied for this market from the State Department for Housing and Urban Development to ensure that our people have access to world-class trading facilities. This project will transform the economic landscape of Kakongo and beyond,” he stated.

Beyond economic development, Hon. Nguna emphasized his dedication to improving education infrastructure within Mwingi West. Earlier in the day, he visited Kairungu Location to commission newly constructed classrooms at Kakongo Primary School, funded through the MW NG-CDF FY 2024/2025.

“This is part of my broader vision to enhance education standards in our constituency. By investing in quality learning facilities, we are shaping a better future for our children,” he remarked.

Hon. Nguna reaffirmed his continued dedication to uplifting both the economic and educational sectors in Mwingi West, ensuring that the constituency remains on a path to growth and development.

As Mwingi West continues to witness transformative projects under his leadership, Hon. Nguna urged residents to support these initiatives, emphasizing the collective effort needed to achieve lasting progress.

“With unity and hard work, we will create an empowered and self-sufficient community,” he concluded.
