Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi has launched a scathing attack on ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna, accusing him of prioritizing academic credentials over true leadership qualities. In a fiery statement, Sudi dismissed Sifuna’s stance on leadership, claiming that intelligence and inherent abilities matter more than formal education.
"While education is undeniably important, leadership is not just about papers. It requires wisdom, vision, and the ability to connect with the people," Sudi stated. "Unfortunately, Wamunyoro’s lapdog fails to understand this simple truth."
Sudi's remarks appear to be a direct response to recent comments made by Sifuna, who has been vocal about the role of education in governance. The ODM official has often emphasized the need for leaders to have strong academic backgrounds, a position that Sudi and his allies have repeatedly criticized.
The Kapseret MP, who has previously faced scrutiny over his own academic credentials, insisted that Kenya’s most effective leaders have not necessarily been the most educated but rather those with the ability to serve the interests of the people.
“Leadership is about character, not degrees. We have seen highly educated individuals who have failed terribly in leadership, while others with little formal education have transformed their communities,” Sudi added.
This war of words between Sudi and Sifuna is the latest in a series of political clashes between UDA and ODM, as the two parties continue to lock horns ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Sifuna has yet to respond to Sudi’s attack, but his allies in ODM have previously defended the importance of education in leadership, arguing that it enhances decision-making and governance.
As the political rhetoric escalates, Kenyans remain divided on whether leadership should be determined by academic credentials or practical abilities.
