In a significant milestone in the fight for gender equality and women’s empowerment as Kiambu Woman Representative, Hon. Ann Wamuratha, joined Grassroots Organizations Operating Together in Sisterhood (GROOTS) Kenya in celebrating 30 years since its inception.
For three decades, GROOTS Kenya has been a pillar of transformation, tirelessly advocating for the inclusion of girls and women in leadership, amplifying their voices in decision-making spaces, and working to restore their dignity in society. Through strategic programs and grassroots initiatives, the organization has played a crucial role in ensuring that women are not just seen but actively participate in shaping policies and driving community development.
Speaking at the event in Limuru, Hon. Wamuratha lauded GROOTS Kenya for its unwavering commitment to empowering women. She emphasized that the organization’s vision aligns with her mission of uplifting and supporting women in Kiambu County through various social and economic empowerment initiatives.
“As we celebrate this remarkable achievement, we reaffirm our collective responsibility to continue championing women’s rights, fostering economic independence, and creating opportunities that enable them to thrive in all spheres of life,” she stated.
Hon. Wamuratha reaffirmed her dedication to working with like-minded organizations to push for greater inclusion of women in leadership, entrepreneurship, and community development. She urged stakeholders to continue supporting grassroots movements that uplift women and contribute to a more equitable society.
