Langas Ward Residents Engage in Public Participation for County Strategic Plan 2025/26

Residents of Langas Ward in Kapseret Sub County actively participated in the ongoing public participation exercise for the County Strategic Fiscal Plan 2025/26 on Tuesday, contributing valuable insights to shape the region’s development agenda.

The public participation event, led by Mr. Martin Mutai (County Economic Planning), Dr. Francis Nyarombe (Chairman, Ward Project Identification Committee), and Simon Kogo (Ward Administrator), provided a platform for the community to voice their priorities for the upcoming fiscal year.

Governor Dr. Jonathan Bii's administration revealed plans to prioritize critical infrastructure, with a focus on roads projects. Notably, the county government intends to gravel at least 10 kilometers of road in each ward as part of a broader effort to improve transportation networks across the county. The residents expressed strong support for these initiatives, highlighting the need for better connectivity within their wards.

The meeting also touched on the progress of ongoing development projects in the area. The county team provided updates on the electricity program in Yamumbi, the water and sewage project in Block 2, and the construction of a new electricity supply line for Block 6. Additionally, discussions included a major grading and gravelling program aimed at improving road conditions throughout the ward.

"Improving roads and infrastructure will enhance access to services and facilitate economic activities for the residents," said Mr. Mutai, emphasizing the importance of these projects in promoting sustainable development in the ward.

Residents also highlighted the need for further improvements in specific areas, particularly in Block 4 and Block 6, urging the county government to prioritize road rehabilitation in these parts of Langas Ward. They also advocated for the installation of a box culvert to improve drainage and mitigate flooding issues along Block 1 and Block 2 roads, which connect to Segero Baptist.

Dr. Nyarombe echoed the community’s sentiments, stressing that the input from residents would play a critical role in guiding the county's development initiatives for the 2025/26 fiscal year.

"The people's participation is crucial for ensuring that our development plans align with their needs and aspirations," Dr. Nyarombe said.

Simon Kogo, the Ward Administrator, commended the residents for their active involvement in the planning process and encouraged them to continue providing feedback as the county government works towards fulfilling its development promises.

The event marked another important step in the county’s efforts to involve citizens in the decision-making process and ensure that their voices are heard in shaping the future of Langas Ward and the wider Kapseret Sub County.

With continued community engagement and a focus on strategic infrastructure development, Langas Ward is poised for greater improvements in essential services and connectivity in the coming years.
