Faith Odhiambo, the President of the Law Society of Kenya (LSK), recently attended the West Kenya Chapter Annual Prayer Day, where the society gathered to reflect, honor, and pray for their colleagues who have passed on. The event provided a platform for members to express their condolences and share moments of reflection, emphasizing the significance of communal support and self-care in the demanding world of law.
In her address, Odhiambo spoke poignantly about the need for unity within the legal profession, stressing the importance of standing together to safeguard both the profession and the judiciary from the growing threats of corruption and impunity. She highlighted the potential consequences if these issues were left unchecked, noting that it could lead to a collapse of the legal system, with far-reaching implications not just for Kenya, but for the livelihoods of Advocates as well.
Odhiambo’s message resonated with the members, urging them to remain vigilant and committed to the common cause of defending the integrity of the judiciary. She called on all members to continue upholding the values that define the profession and work collaboratively to ensure a fair and just legal system for all.
As the legal community faces increasing challenges, the annual prayer day served as a timely reminder that through unity and mutual support, the profession can continue to thrive while tackling the various hurdles that come its way.
