The Law Society of Kenya (LSK) President, Faith Odhiambo , officially inaugurated the inaugural Specialized Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Training on Legal & Compliance Audits at Lake Naivasha Resort yesterday. This five-day training program is aimed at equipping legal professionals with the necessary skills and knowledge to conduct Legal & Compliance Audits for issuers of securities to the public.
At the end of the program, participants will receive Certificates of Accreditation, empowering them to carry out legal and compliance audits within the securities sector. The training is the result of a collaboration between the Council of the Law Society of Kenya, the Capital Markets Authority (CMA), and the Kenya School of Law, who together established the Taskforce on Legal Audit Capacity Building for LSK members in June 2018.
Speaking at the event, LSK President Faith Odhiambo emphasized the importance of continuous professional development in strengthening the legal profession and improving compliance standards within the capital markets.
The training is expected to play a key role in enhancing the capacity of LSK members to engage in the growing field of legal audits, ultimately contributing to improved governance and transparency in Kenya's financial markets.
