Lusaka Calls for Unity Among Mulembe Leaders to Boost Political Influence

Kakamega Governor Kenneth Lusaka has called on leaders from the Mulembe nation to strengthen their unity to enhance their political bargaining power at the national level.

Speaking during a Thanksgiving service at King Jesus Faith Ministries in Bungoma town, Lusaka stressed the importance of Western Kenya leaders coming together to forge a common political path.

"We made a deliberate step as the Western Kenya governors to unite all leaders in the region under one voice. This is the only opportunity to walk the talk," Lusaka said.

He affirmed that Western Kenya would be a significant player in the country’s 2027 general elections, highlighting the region’s strategic voting numbers. According to Lusaka, a united Mulembe nation could negotiate for a bigger stake in the national government and influence key policy decisions.

Busia Governor Dr. Paul Otuoma, who also addressed the congregation, echoed Lusaka’s sentiments, emphasizing the need for visionary leadership to propel the region toward greater political and economic influence.

"Our region has the potential to shape the political future of this country. However, this can only be achieved if we remain united and focused on a common agenda," Otuoma stated.

The event was also attended by Vihiga Deputy Governor Wilberforce Kitiezo, Bungoma Deputy Governor Janepher Mbatiany, Kanduyi MP John Makali, and other key leaders.

Political analysts argue that Western Kenya has historically been divided in national politics, often aligning with different political factions. However, with renewed calls for unity, there is growing optimism that the region could wield more influence in future elections.

As the 2027 polls draw closer, leaders from Western Kenya are expected to intensify efforts to consolidate support and push for a stronger representation in government.
