Mandera South CDF Supports 354 Teacher Trainees

By John Kariuki

Mandera South Constituency, through the National Government-Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF), is sponsoring 354 teacher trainees enrolled at Garissa University, Garissa Teachers Training College, and Mandera Teachers Training College.

Hon. Abdul Haro Kore, MP for Mandera South, led a delegation to Mandera Teachers Training College to issue scholarship cheques to 194 students. The event was attended by H.E Governor Mohamed Adan Khalif and Senator Capt. Ali Ibrahim Roba EGH, MP, who encouraged the trainees.

Mandera South faces a severe teacher shortage, worsened by insecurity that has led to an exodus of teachers. This scholarship program is a strategic effort to train and retain local teachers.

Hon. Abdul Haro Kore emphasized the need for increased investment in teacher training to ensure quality education for local learners. By empowering local youth, Mandera South is working towards a long-term solution to the education crisis.

The Mandera South leadership urges stakeholders and development partners to support education initiatives. Investing in teachers is key to securing a brighter future for the region.
