Moi University staff will receive their long-awaited arrears totaling 500 million shillings within the next three days, new Vice Chancellor Prof. Kiplagat Kotut and Council Chairman Prof. Noah Midamba have confirmed.
Speaking after meeting with staff members the university leaders assured the staff that their salaries will be enhanced in accordance with the recently signed return-to-work formula. This move comes after months of uncertainty regarding payment of arrears, which had caused tension among employees.
Prof. Kotut, who took over as Acting Vice Chancellor following the compulsory leave of Prof. Isaac Kosgey, emphasized that the university is committed to resolving outstanding issues and ensuring a stable working environment.
Additionally, the new leadership has pledged to address recurring issues at the institution, including students overstaying in their courses and missing marks. They vowed to implement effective systems that would prevent such challenges in the future, ensuring smoother academic processes.
Prof. Kotut and Prof. Midamba also reaffirmed their commitment to restoring Moi University’s former academic and institutional glory.
