Moiben Constituency Member of Parliament, Prof. Phylis Bartoo, today officially opened newly constructed classrooms at Lelilt Day and Boarding Primary School in Sergoit Ward. The event marks a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts to improve educational infrastructure in the constituency, offering pupils a more conducive environment for learning and growth.
Speaking during the ceremony, Prof. Bartoo expressed her commitment to enhancing educational standards in the region. "Expanding school infrastructure is an investment in the future of our children. It is crucial that we provide a space where they can thrive and develop the skills necessary to succeed," she said.
The opening was attended by several key dignitaries, including Chairman of the Water Resource Authority (WRA), Hon. Donald Murgor, Chairman of the Mining sector, Hon. Joseph Lagat, and Hon. Lamaon from the Office of the Deputy President. Also present were local clergy, teachers, parents, pupils, and the Lelilt community, who all celebrated the completion of the new classrooms.
Prof. Bartoo further emphasized the importance of collaboration between local government, the community, and education stakeholders. "This is a collective effort that reflects our shared responsibility in shaping the future of our young learners," she said. "I am proud to see our community come together to ensure that our children have access to better educational opportunities."

Teachers and staff at the school welcomed the new classrooms, with Headteacher Mrs. Grace Kibet noting the positive impact on both teaching and learning. "This new space will not only accommodate our students better but will also enable us to implement more effective teaching methods," she said.
Parents expressed their gratitude for the new facilities, acknowledging the improvements in their children’s educational environment. "This development means our children will now learn in a better setting, which will inspire them to do their best," said one local parent.
The event concluded with a ceremonial ribbon-cutting and a tour of the new classrooms by Prof. Bartoo and the other dignitaries. The MP reiterated her commitment to continuing efforts to improve education in Moiben, pledging to further invest in schools and support initiatives that benefit local learners.
