In a bold statement, ODM Secretary General Senator Edwin Sifuna has made it clear that even if his party decides to support President William Ruto in the 2027 general elections, the Head of State will still face defeat.
Speaking during a press briefing, Sifuna emphasized that the ODM party would only engage in alliances with political parties that share like-minded views and are dedicated to serving the people. He went on to strongly criticize the current administration, labeling it as incompetent and unfit for the challenges Kenya faces.
“We will not partner with parties that lack the will or the capability to deliver for the people of Kenya,” Sifuna said, reiterating ODM’s commitment to progressive policies that address the needs of ordinary citizens. “Even if we were to support President Ruto, he will lose the election because Kenyans are dissatisfied with his government. They are yearning for a leadership that is focused on their welfare.”
Sifuna’s comments come in the wake of widespread discontent regarding President Ruto’s government, with many Kenyans expressing frustrations over rising living costs, unemployment, and economic instability. ODM has been positioning itself as the alternative government, with a focus on transparency, economic growth, and social equity.
In recent months, ODM has been active in engaging with other political parties, but Sifuna made it clear that only those with a shared vision would be considered for future alliances.
