Reuben Kigame Unveiled as Deputy Party Leader of Justice and Freedom Party of Kenya

The Justice and Freedom Party of Kenya (JFP) has officially unveiled Reuben Kigame as its new Deputy Party Leader during a highly anticipated press conference held at the ACK Guest House in Nairobi on February 19, 2025. The announcement marks a significant moment in the party's preparations as they look ahead to the upcoming 2027 general elections, positioning Kigame as a key figure in the party's future direction.

Kigame, who has been a long-standing advocate for youth empowerment and political change, used his unveiling to encourage Kenyans to be proactive in their engagement with the political process. "Look for your ID, look for your voter’s card, and get ready to vote in 2027," he urged the public, emphasizing the importance of every citizen’s participation in the democratic process. Kigame's call to action resonated with many, particularly the youth, as he called for renewed enthusiasm and active involvement in shaping the country’s future.

The unveiling event also served as a platform for Kigame to outline the Justice and Freedom Party’s commitment to empowering the younger generation, specifically those from Generation Z, to step into leadership roles. "Justice and Freedom Party is ready to mentor the Gen Zs in leadership," he said, making it clear that the party's focus will be on ensuring that the youth are prepared to tackle the leadership challenges facing the country. Kigame noted that leadership opportunities should not be delayed but taken up now by the youth, stressing that "The youth are not leaders of tomorrow, they lead now."

As part of JFP's broader vision for the future, Kigame outlined the party's intention to launch a mentorship program aimed at nurturing young leaders who aspire to run for political office in the coming years. He believes that this initiative will create a new generation of informed, dynamic, and visionary leaders who will work towards eradicating the corrupt and inefficient leadership that has plagued the country for decades. He also stressed the importance of creating a political environment where young leaders can thrive and effect meaningful change.

The mentorship program is expected to focus on equipping the youth with the necessary skills to handle the complexities of governance, policy-making, and leadership. Kigame reiterated that it was not just about preparing youth for future leadership positions but enabling them to make an immediate impact on the political landscape.

The press conference also featured remarks from JFP Party Leader, Justus Juma, who expressed his strong dissatisfaction with the current political leadership in the country. Juma, who has been vocal about his desire for a transformative change in Kenya’s political scene, criticized politicians who he said misuse their power for selfish reasons. "We have had individuals who play around with our rights and treat them like privileges. Because of greed, because of selfishness, and because of ignorance, they have assumed the position that Nimrod assumed in the Bible when he was talking like a god," Juma stated, drawing parallels between current political leaders and biblical figures who sought to consolidate power for personal gain.

Juma, who has been a leading voice in the party, praised the youth for their resilience and for holding leaders accountable. He commended Generation Z for their growing political consciousness and their demand for more transparency and accountability in the country’s leadership. "The Gen Zs are fighting for accountability, for transparency, and for a better Kenya," Juma said, recognizing the role that young people are already playing in pushing for a more responsible and forward-thinking government.

As the Justice and Freedom Party continues to build momentum ahead of the 2027 elections, Juma emphasized that the party’s goal was not just to gain political power but to ensure that Kenya’s leadership is guided by strong values and principles. "We have a unity of values, unity of like-minded individuals, and unity of purpose to build Kenya," he said, underscoring the party's commitment to creating a political culture that prioritizes the well-being of all Kenyans over personal ambition.

Kigame also took the opportunity to call on all citizens to join JFP, highlighting that the party aims to become the largest political party in Kenya. "We want every Kenyan to join us as we work towards making a positive change in this country. Together, we can build a future that we can all be proud of," Kigame said, inviting all those who share the party's values to come on board and contribute to the party's growth.

The event concluded with a commitment from both Kigame and Juma to continue pushing for reforms that will strengthen the nation’s democratic processes. They reiterated that the Justice and Freedom Party is committed to building a fairer, more accountable, and inclusive political system.

With Reuben Kigame now stepping into the role of Deputy Party Leader, JFP is poised to become a major force in Kenyan politics, offering a platform for young, visionary leaders to drive the change that many citizens have been yearning for. The party’s emphasis on mentorship, youth leadership, and accountability is likely to resonate with a broad spectrum of Kenyans, particularly those who feel disconnected from the current political establishment.

As the 2027 elections draw closer, the Justice and Freedom Party is steadily positioning itself as a key player in Kenya’s political future, and with Kigame's leadership, the party hopes to inspire a new era of leadership in the country.
