Ruaraka Leaders Endorse Raila Odinga’s AU Chairmanship Bid

By John Kariuki

A group of leaders from Ruaraka has publicly declared their support for the Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga’s bid for the African Union Commission (AUC) Chairmanship, citing his vast experience, visionary leadership, and unwavering commitment to Africa’s progress.

The leaders, led by United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Ruaraka leader Boaz Cheluget, praised Odinga as a true statesman whose legacy in governance, democracy, and regional integration makes him the most suitable candidate for the AU’s top leadership position. They highlighted his long-standing dedication to championing economic empowerment, peace, and unity across Africa, qualities that align with the objectives of the African Union.

The leaders emphasized that Odinga’s leadership on both the national and continental stages has demonstrated his ability to foster unity and advocate for policies that promote economic development, good governance, and social justice. They pointed to his history of pushing for democratic reforms, strengthening institutions, and advocating for Africa’s self-reliance.

Ruaraka leaders noted that Odinga’s extensive networks and diplomatic experience would be instrumental in bridging divides within the continent and positioning Africa as a stronger player on the global stage. His experience as the African Union’s High Representative for Infrastructure gave him first-hand exposure to the challenges and opportunities facing the continent, making him well-equipped to lead the AU Commission.

In a rare show of unity across political lines, the Ruaraka leaders stressed that the AU Chairmanship is a continental role that goes beyond party politics. They called on all Kenyans, regardless of their political affiliations, to support Odinga’s bid, arguing that having a Kenyan at the helm of the African Union would be a source of national pride and a strategic advantage for the country.

The leaders also expressed confidence in President William Ruto’s diplomatic efforts to rally regional and global support for Odinga’s candidacy. They commended Ruto for putting national interests first and working towards ensuring Kenya secures this influential position within the African Union. They emphasized that Kenya’s success in securing the AU Chairmanship would not only elevate the country’s standing in Africa but also open doors for more regional collaboration and economic opportunities.

Their endorsement of Odinga’s bid reflects a broader consensus that Africa needs a leader with a clear vision, a deep understanding of the continent’s challenges, and the ability to unite nations toward a common goal. With Kenya leading the charge, they believe Odinga’s leadership will help shape Africa’s future and strengthen its position in the global arena.
