"Stop Cheap Politics, Teso North Leader Warns County Officials"

 


Former Malaba Member of the County Assembly on Wiper ticket Bernard Ibella Papa has warned Busia County leaders against engaging in tribal outbursts, which might put the county into jeopardy if left unabated.


Addressing mourners during the burial of Mama Eva Toto Emaido, 76, at Adumai village, Kolait sublocation, Teso North Sub county on saturday, Benard Ibella Papa told county leaders to rid the county off the mounting challenges as pertains political succession with over two years remaining to the general elections.


" Instead of throwing salvos at others during burials, and to forestall this kind of tension in August 2027 elections, we need to look for a leader who will put Busia in a pivotal position in all aspects of socio-economic and political dispensation.


He denied recent claims by the speaker of the County Assembly Fredrick Odilo that the Teso community is angry with power, adding that the two leading communities have been competing for the governorship since the advent of devolution in 2013.


Moding Location Chief Omudek Odera told users of the Inua Jamii program that beginning this month they will not access their funds through bank accounts, but money will be channelled through phones, thus the need to obtain safaricom simcards.


The chief also raised concerns over rampant thefts of cattle and bananas from farms, warning them of dire consequences if they continue with the practice.


Mr Omudek made another startling revelation that men aged between 25 and 35 years are living precariously without wives, who have 

 deserted them to seek "greener" pastures in Nairobi and other urban centres.


" Some men whose wives manage to return home develop fear of the unknown owing to lack of convincing language to win them back because they have grown fat compared to before leaving for urban areas," he said.


The Angurai North Ward MCA aspirant for 2027 elections Gerald Ekisa urged voters from the ward to give education a priority, adding that public participation conducted should not be public relation.


Ekisa, who also stood in 2022 elections, finishing third , urged the county government to let development follow resources.


A prominent Malaba businessman and 2022 Teso North MP aspirant,

 Dr Fred Okademi Papa, urged mourners to put gubernatorial votes in one basket in favour of Arthur Osiya, the current Prncipal Administrative Secretary in the Executive Office of the President, adding that it will be a boon for the community if leadership will come to the region.
