In a remarkable display of appreciation for public service, Uasin Gishu County on Thursday, February 27,2025,celebrated 79 retirees of 2024 at a special ceremony held at the county headquarters.
The event, themed *Celebrating Decades of Outstanding Careers, Achievements, and Hardwork*, honoured the retiring employees who have dedicated years of their lives to serving the county.
Governor Dr. Jonathan Bii, in line with his Nguzo number 9 blueprint, emphasized the importance of performance management as a key measure of effective service delivery.
The blueprint aims to ensure the efficient utilization of public resources and to promote staff based on merit as per the schemes of service.
During the ceremony, Governor Bii revealed that Uasin Gishu County has implemented the promotion of 1,423 staff members, effective from 1st February 2025.
This promotion initiative marks the largest one-off staff promotion since 2016, showcasing the county's commitment to recognizing hard work and motivating its workforce.
The Governor took a moment to reflect on the long and fulfilling careers of the retirees, many of whom began their journey in the days of the defunct municipality.
"Many of you joined when you were young, full of energy, and eager to serve. Over the years, you grew in your careers, confidently discharging duties and rising through the ranks. Your dedication and service have contributed significantly to the development of our county," he said, applauding their years of hard work.
The County Boss also offered words of encouragement, reminding the retirees that "retirement is not an end, but a transition into a new and exciting phase of life."
He urged them to reflect on their many accomplishments while embracing the new opportunities that retirement offers.
A special recognition was given to Mr. Righa Mwandoto, a senior electrician who served the county for an incredible 40 years. His outstanding dedication to his work was acknowledged, and he was celebrated as one of the longest-serving officers in the county.
