Uasin Gishu County Partners with KAM to Transform Eldoret into a Manufacturing Powerhouse

The County Government of Uasin Gishu is stepping up efforts to position Eldoret as a leading manufacturing hub in the region, focusing on creating a business-friendly environment to attract investments and fuel sustainable economic growth. As part of its ongoing initiatives, the county recently launched a cutting-edge One-Stop Service Center designed to streamline the process for businesses seeking permits and licenses. The move aims to simplify administrative procedures and provide a seamless experience for investors looking to establish or expand operations in Uasin Gishu.

In a bid to further support this transformative vision, Uasin Gishu County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Trade and Cooperatives, Martha Cheruto, engaged in high-level discussions with Tobias Alando, the CEO of the Kenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM). The two parties explored potential areas of collaboration with the goal of boosting the manufacturing sector within the county.

KAM, a key player in Kenya’s industrial landscape, has long been at the forefront of advocating for policies that promote trade and investment, ensure adherence to industry standards, and support small and medium-sized manufacturing enterprises (SMEs). With a reputation for helping create a vibrant and competitive industrial ecosystem, KAM’s involvement is expected to accelerate Uasin Gishu's manufacturing ambitions.

Through this engagement, the county government aims to unlock new opportunities for industrial growth and solidify Eldoret's reputation as a manufacturing powerhouse. The partnership is seen as a crucial step towards driving innovation, fostering a conducive environment for businesses, and creating job opportunities that will positively impact the livelihoods of local residents.

Martha Cheruto expressed optimism about the collaboration, stating, “By working with KAM, we can leverage their expertise to strengthen our local industries and attract investors. We are committed to ensuring that Uasin Gishu becomes a model of economic development in Kenya, with manufacturing playing a central role in our vision.”

Tobias Alando, on his part, emphasized the importance of partnerships between county governments and industry associations in driving industrial growth. “The potential of Uasin Gishu is immense. With the right policies and infrastructure in place, Eldoret can become a top destination for manufacturing investments. We look forward to working with the county to unlock this potential,” he said.

The partnership between Uasin Gishu County and KAM marks a significant step towards realizing the region’s industrial aspirations, with a clear focus on innovation, sustainability, and inclusive economic development.
