Uasin Gishu Fire Brigade Urges Caution as Fire Incidents Surge

Uasin Gishu County Fire Brigade was called into action on Thursday afternoon when a wildfire broke out at Ex-Gulen Farm in Moisbridge. The swift response from the fire department prevented the fire from spreading to nearby homes and businesses.

At approximately 2:30 p.m., a concerned resident alerted authorities to the blaze, which had consumed bluegum trees on the farm. The intensity of the fire posed a significant threat to the surrounding area, and local residents struggled to contain the flames.

Joel Chelagat, the owner of Ex-Gulen Farm, suspects that the fire may have been caused by a discarded cigarette butt, left unattended by a passerby. He expressed his gratitude to the fire brigade for their quick and efficient response, which significantly minimized potential damages.

With fire incidents on the rise, especially during the dry season, the Uasin Gishu Fire Department is urging residents to remain vigilant and take preventive measures to avoid similar outbreaks. The public is reminded to use the county’s emergency contact numbers—0710646464, 0532061185, or 0706389888—to report any fire-related emergencies promptly.

The fire department emphasized the importance of caution and cooperation from the community in reducing fire risks, ensuring the safety of both residents and property.
