It was a moment of deep nostalgia and reflection when former students of Paul Boit Boys High School made a heartfelt return to their alma mater after 21 years. The event, which brought together distinguished alumni and current students, was not only a celebration of the school's legacy but also an opportunity to inspire the next generation of leaders.
Among the notable alumni present were Hon. Moses Kebenei Nyiganet, Hon. Nicholas Rende, Hon. Samuel Sawe, and City Manager Julius Kitur, who returned to reaffirm their commitment to the school’s continued growth and development. The gathering served as a reminder of the long-lasting impact Paul Boit Boys High School has had on its former students and the importance of maintaining a strong connection with the school community.
Speaking at the event, Sila Koskei Terigin, a prominent alumnus, reflected on the immense role the institution played in shaping his future. "This is the school that shaped my destiny, instilled discipline, and laid the foundation for my journey," Terigin shared with the students, teachers, and fellow alumni in attendance. "Walking through these halls, engaging with students, and encouraging them to stay on the right path took me back to my own days here. It’s truly memorable and nostalgic to be back after 21 years."
Paul Boit Boys High School, known for its rich tradition of academic excellence and character development, has produced countless individuals who have gone on to excel in various fields, from politics to business to community leadership. The return of these alumni was not just a chance to reminisce about their school days but also to offer guidance and mentorship to the current generation.
One of the main highlights of the event was the symbolic handover of leadership to the school’s Form Four students, known as the Eagles. These students are set to finish their secondary education in a few months, and the alumni took the opportunity to pass on the mantle of leadership to them. "The Eagles, our Form Four students, have now been handed the mantle, ready to soar to greater heights," Terigin said. "We wish them well in all their endeavors as they take on the responsibility of leading this great institution forward."
During the event, alumni also engaged in thoughtful discussions with the students, emphasizing the importance of discipline, hard work, and perseverance. "Education is the key that opens doors to opportunities," said Hon. Moses Kebenei Nyiganet, echoing the sentiments of the group. "The foundation that Paul Boit has provided you will serve you well if you remain focused and true to your goals."
Hon. Nicholas Rende shared his thoughts on the power of mentorship and its impact on personal growth. "We, as alumni, are living examples of what this school can help you achieve," Rende said. "But it’s important to remember that the future is in your hands. Take full advantage of the resources and the guidance that this institution offers."
The alumni also took time to interact with the current faculty, expressing their gratitude for the support and mentorship they received during their time at the school. City Manager Julius Kitur, who has gone on to serve in several leadership roles, also addressed the students, sharing his journey from the classrooms of Paul Boit to his professional achievements. "Your time here is more than just about academics. It’s about character building, preparing you for the challenges ahead, and shaping you into responsible citizens," Kitur emphasized.
Throughout the event, it was clear that the bond between Paul Boit Boys High School and its alumni is strong and enduring. The shared experiences, values, and memories create a sense of unity that transcends time. The alumni were also keen to support the school in any way they could, whether through mentorship, resource donations, or helping to create new opportunities for the students.
As the event concluded, the Form Four students gathered together, energized by the words of encouragement and wisdom imparted by the alumni. They are now more determined than ever to live up to the legacy left by those who came before them.
"Paul Boit Boys High School is truly the place to be," Terigin concluded. "It is a place where dreams are nurtured, discipline is instilled, and young people are empowered to make a difference. The Eagles are ready to take flight, and we are here to support them every step of the way."
As the Form Four students prepare for their final exams and their next steps in life, they carry with them the powerful lessons shared by the alumni—lessons of hard work, leadership, and commitment to excellence. The event not only marked a significant moment in the school’s history but also reaffirmed the timeless values that continue to shape the school’s identity and the futures of its students.
