In a touching display of compassion and community spirit, award-winning teacher Shokwei V. Barsulai has shared a heartfelt account of her experience distributing mattresses to nine families in need, impacting a total of 18 children. The event, which took place last week, was made possible through the generous support of the Hakuna Matata Foundation.
Barsulai, who works closely with children in her local school, expressed her deep appreciation for the foundation’s efforts to improve the lives of vulnerable families. In her emotional reflection, she recounted visiting the homes of the families who received the mattresses, witnessing firsthand the transformative impact of the donation.
“I had the honor of meeting the Hakuna Matata Foundation team last week, and I can’t put into words how God answers prayers in miraculous ways. Today, we distributed nine mattresses to nine families, which will benefit 18 children in our school,” Barsulai said in a post shared with her community.
The teacher described the experience as a deeply emotional one, revealing how the mothers of the children were moved to tears, and the children’s joy was felt throughout the entire community. "There were tears from the mothers, hugs, and even shangwe and vigelegele from the neighbors. I have cried a river today," she added, emphasizing the deep sense of gratitude that filled the air.
Barsulai referenced a passage from the Bible, 2 Corinthians 9:8, which reads: “And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.” The teacher attributed the success of the event to God's providence, and expressed her deep gratitude for the abundance of blessings that allowed such an initiative to take place.
“Dear God, of our children, thank you for blessing us abundantly. We are grateful,” Barsulai wrote in her post, further acknowledging the support of the Hakuna Matata Foundation. “To the Hakuna Matata Foundation, Asanteni sana for your support. May the good Lord bless you for us. Pamoja tuwalinde watoto wetu (Together, let us protect our children).”
