This morning, the Director General of Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS), Prof. Erustus Kanga, PhD, EBS, hosted Mr. Sarit Shah, Chairman of the Safal Mabati Rolling Mills Foundation, along with senior officials from both institutions, to explore new avenues for partnership.
Prof. Kanga commended the MRM Foundation for its initiative to expand collaboration with KWS in key areas, including clean water harvesting, rehabilitation of KWS facilities, woodlot establishment, cultural center development, community training, and permaculture for sustainable livelihoods. He also invited the Foundation to support the removal of asbestos roofing, aligning with the Presidential directive on safer infrastructure.
Additional areas of potential collaboration include rehabilitating ranger housing and stations and adopting green energy solutions.
Mr. Shah emphasized the importance of environmental conservation education for youth, schools, and local communities, reinforcing the need to empower future generations in sustainability efforts.
To formalize these commitments, the DG directed the development of a Framework of Cooperation (FOC) to guide the joint implementation of the agreed initiatives.
This collaboration highlights the power of partnerships in conservation, community empowerment, and environmental sustainability, ensuring thriving wildlife and healthy habitats for all, forever.
