Butere MP Tindi Male Elected Chairman of Public Accounts Committee (PAC)

Butere Member of Parliament (MP) Tindi Mwale has been elected as the new Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), one of the most influential parliamentary bodies tasked with overseeing government spending and ensuring accountability in the use of public resources.

The announcement was made following a session of the National Assembly, where Male's election was met with widespread support from his colleagues. In his acceptance speech, Male expressed his gratitude to the Almighty God and thanked his fellow PAC members for placing their trust in him to lead the committee.

"I am truly honored and grateful to be entrusted with this responsibility. As Chairman, I pledge to work tirelessly with my colleagues to ensure transparency in the management of public funds," Mwale said.

Male also congratulated Hon. Amina Udgoon Siyad, the newly elected Vice-Chair of PAC, praising her expertise and dedication to ensuring robust audit procedures. "I look forward to working closely with Hon. Amina and all the members of this distinguished committee," he added.

The PAC plays a critical role in scrutinizing government expenditure, reviewing financial statements, and ensuring that taxpayer money is used effectively and efficiently. As Chairman, Male’s focus will be on strengthening the committee's oversight role, ensuring that all government revenue and expenditures are thoroughly audited, and holding public officials accountable for their stewardship of national resources.

"The resolve of this committee is clear: to offer rigorous scrutiny of public funds and to ensure that the expenditure of the National Government is in line with the best interests of the people," Male remarked.

Tindi Male’s election comes at a time when the PAC is expected to intensify its scrutiny of government projects and expenditures. With a reputation for integrity and a strong commitment to public service, Male is expected to lead the committee with a focus on accountability and transparency.

As a representative of Butere, Male’s election has been hailed as a significant achievement, and he has vowed to ensure that the PAC remains a key player in promoting good governance and fiscal responsibility in Kenya.

The PAC, which has been central to ensuring the financial integrity of the government, is expected to continue its work under Male’s leadership, offering an essential check on the use of public funds as the country navigates its fiscal challenges.
