Call for Public Service Minister Justine Mturi to Resign Amid Controversy Over His Actions

Eldoret-Based Human Rights Activist Kipkorir Ngetich Calls for Immediate Action on Government Accountability and Public Service Ethics

Eldoret, Kenya – Prominent human rights activist Kipkorir Ngetich, based in Eldoret, has issued a strong statement calling for accountability and ethical conduct within Kenya’s government, particularly focusing on the actions of Cabinet Secretary for Public Service, Justine Mturi. Ngetich, known for his advocacy for transparent governance and respect for human rights, has expressed concern over what he perceives as a blatant disregard for the principles of public service by Minister Mturi.

In his recent address, Ngetich emphasized the importance of public servants respecting the government of the day and adhering to the oath they take upon appointment. “We are witnessing a dangerous trend where government appointees feel they can act with impunity, undermining the very leadership that appointed them,” Ngetich stated. “The role of a Cabinet Secretary is not to play partisan politics or engage in open defiance against the sitting government. Public office comes with a duty to serve and uphold the interests of the people.”

Ngetich’s remarks follow mounting controversy surrounding Mturi’s recent comments and actions, which have been viewed by many as confrontational toward President William Ruto and his administration. Critics have accused Mturi of disrespecting the leadership and undermining efforts to move the country forward.

“Justine Mturi’s behavior, especially his recent confrontations with the president, is unacceptable,” Ngetich said. “A minister should not be allowed to disrespect the office of the president, nor should they be allowed to undermine government policies that have been put in place for the betterment of all Kenyans.”

Ngetich also questioned the motivations behind Mturi’s actions, suggesting that they may be driven by personal or partisan interests rather than a genuine commitment to public service. “We cannot allow individuals with selfish or divisive agendas to occupy positions that require neutrality and dedication to the common good,” he added.

The human rights activist further stated that it is imperative for President Ruto to take swift and decisive action to ensure that public servants uphold the highest standards of integrity and professionalism. “The president must act now to prevent a further erosion of respect for the institutions of government. This type of behavior can set a dangerous precedent, where public servants believe they can flout the law and disrespect the leadership without consequences,” Ngetich warned.

In his call for reform, Ngetich highlighted the need for a government that prioritizes ethics and the rule of law. He argued that only through strong accountability measures can the country achieve its development goals and ensure that citizens receive the services they deserve.

As the debate surrounding Mturi’s actions intensifies, Ngetich has pledged to continue advocating for responsible governance and the protection of human rights. His call for action has sparked a wider conversation on the role of public servants in Kenya’s political landscape, with many urging the government to ensure that public officials serve with integrity, loyalty, and respect for the rule of law.
