The construction of the ultra-modern 64 Market, a landmark project in the heart of Eldoret, is progressing well and is set to revolutionize trade and commerce in Uasin Gishu County. Governor Jonathan Bii has reaffirmed the county government’s commitment to delivering the largest and most iconic market in the region, aimed at providing traders with state-of-the-art amenities to boost economic growth.
Speaking during an inspection tour of the project, Governor Bii emphasized that the market will offer a conducive and organized environment for traders, ensuring they operate efficiently and profitably.
"The 64 Market will not only provide modern business spaces but also uplift the economic status of our traders. This project reflects our vision of positioning Eldoret as a commercial hub while ensuring our hardworking business community has access to world-class facilities," said Governor Bii.
The ultra-modern facility will feature spacious stalls, clean and secure trading spaces, storage facilities, proper sanitation, and advanced waste management systems. The market will also integrate digital business solutions, making transactions easier and more efficient for both traders and customers.
Once completed, the 64 Market is expected to accommodate thousands of traders, reduce congestion in the central business district, and promote a structured trading environment. The governor assured traders that priority will be given to local vendors currently operating in informal markets, ensuring a seamless transition to the new facility.
Governor Bii also called on all stakeholders, including traders and business leaders, to support the initiative, noting that the market is a key step towards economic transformation and job creation in the region.
The project aligns with the county’s broader agenda of urban development and economic empowerment, positioning Eldoret as a premier trading hub in the North Rift region and beyond.
With construction progressing steadily, the ultra-modern 64 Market is set to become a game-changer for businesses in Uasin Gishu County.
