Court of Appeal Rejects Moses Wetangula’s Bid to Overturn Senate Majority Ruling

 In a landmark decision, the Court of Appeal has dismissed an appeal by Senate Speaker Moses Wetangula, seeking to overturn a ruling that affirmed Azimio's status as the majority party in the Senate. The ruling, which comes after months of legal battles, has sparked mixed reactions across the country, shaping the political landscape as it underscores the importance of coalition agreements and the Constitution.

The case stems from a political dispute over the composition of the Senate following the 2022 general elections. Despite the Kenya Kwanza coalition, of which Wetangula is a prominent leader, holding more seats in the Senate than Azimio, the lower court had ruled that Azimio should be recognized as the majority party. Wetangula, challenging the decision, filed an appeal, arguing that the actual seat count should determine the majority status.
