Dagoretti North Member of Parliament Beatrice Elachi is grieving the untimely loss of her son, Elvis Murakana Namenya, who tragically passed away on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, following injuries sustained in a road accident. The news of Elvis' passing has deeply shocked both the political and local community, with many offering their heartfelt condolences to Elachi and her family during this painful time.
President William Ruto expressed his sorrow and extended his condolences, offering prayers for strength to Elachi and her family. "May God grant Mheshimiwa Beatrice Elachi and the family strength to bear with the loss of their dear son, Elvis Murakana. Be comforted by the word of the Lord in Psalm 147:3: 'He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds,'" President Ruto said.
The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), the political party under which Elachi serves, also sent their condolences. In a statement, the party expressed their solidarity, saying, "May God grant Hon. Beatrice Elachi (MP, Dagoretti North) and her family the fortitude and strength to overcome the pain of losing her son Elvis Murakana Namenya. It is such a huge loss to Mheshimiwa. As a party, we stand with her during this difficult moment of mourning and grief."
Condolences have poured in from across the political spectrum, with Kileleshwa Ward MCA Robert Alai also expressing his sympathy: "Losing a child is an unimaginable pain, and my thoughts are with you during this incredibly difficult time."
Veteran broadcaster Fred Obachi Machokaa shared words of comfort, saying, "Parents prefer being buried by their children, but God's plans don't necessarily align with ours. Poleni sana the Elachis, may the Almighty God comfort you at this very difficult moment."
Shinyalu MP Fredrick Lusuli also conveyed his heartfelt condolences, stating, "On behalf of my family and the great people of Shinyalu, I send my sincere condolences to my big sister and colleague Hon Beatrice Elachi and her family for the sad loss of their dear son Elvis. May God give you strength to endure."
The loss has touched the wider community, and many continue to offer their support to Elachi and her family.
