Uasin Gishu Deputy Governor Evans Kapkea, alongside Agriculture Principal Secretary Dr. Kiprono Rono, assessed fertilizer stocks at the National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) this afternoon to ensure farmers have timely access to essential agricultural inputs.
Speaking during the assessment, Deputy Governor Kapkea commended the government for delivering an additional consignment of fertilizer, reinforcing efforts to support hardworking farmers in boosting productivity and ensuring food security in the region.
“We are committed to ensuring that no farmer experiences delays in accessing fertilizer. The government’s continued supply of this crucial input will go a long way in enhancing agricultural productivity,” said Kapkea.
He further noted that last-mile stores across Uasin Gishu County are fully stocked, ensuring farmers can access fertilizer easily and efficiently. Unlike previous seasons, where long queues posed a challenge, the improved distribution system will allow for a smooth and seamless planting season.
Agriculture Principal Secretary Dr. Kiprono Rono reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting farmers through timely interventions and efficient supply chains. He urged farmers to take advantage of the available fertilizer to maximize yields and contribute to national food security.
The exercise underscores the county’s and national government’s dedication to strengthening the agricultural sector, which remains a backbone of the economy. With sufficient fertilizer stocks in place, farmers in Uasin Gishu can now focus on a productive planting season ahead
