Eldoret National Show Holds Harvest Festival to Celebrate Agricultural Success and Unity

 By Wasike Elvis

As the Eldoret National Show enters its final stretch, officials, subcommittee members, and exhibitors gathered for a special prayer service known as the Harvest Festival to thank God for the provision in the recent agricultural harvest. The event, held in Eldoret, was marked by a procession through the town led by the Administration Police Band, culminating in a heartfelt thanksgiving service at the AIC Fellowship Church.

The Harvest Festival, a longstanding tradition for the Agricultural Society of Kenya (ASK), brought together a diverse group of participants, including exhibitors who will be displaying their products at the upcoming National Show. In her speech during the service, Eldoret ASK Show Chairperson Madam Susan Seron expressed the importance of the gathering, not just as a religious event, but as a time for reflection, gratitude, and a reaffirmation of the shared commitment to unity and collective purpose.

“This annual gathering serves as a cornerstone for reflection, gratitude, and reinforcement of our collective commitment to unity and shared purpose,” said Seron. She emphasized that the Harvest Festival holds profound significance for ASK, as it is not only a tradition but also a platform for expressing thanks for the blessings of the harvest and extending support to those in need.

The festival, which precedes agricultural shows and trade fairs across the country, is a moment for participants to come together in thanksgiving, celebrate the bountiful harvest, and reaffirm their dedication to service and generosity. As part of the tradition, the National Show is dedicated to the Lord, with prayers for guidance and success in the coming event.

“Each year, before the commencement of agricultural shows and trade fairs, the society dedicates one Sunday to thanksgiving, celebrating our blessings and reaffirming our commitment to service and generosity,” Seron added. “This festival helps us to remember the importance of unity, collaboration, and giving back to the community as we prepare for the upcoming National Show.”

The Harvest Festival serves as an annual reminder of the significance of agriculture in Kenya’s economy and the vital role of all those involved in the sector, from farmers to exhibitors. It also highlights the spirit of togetherness and support that is integral to the success of events like the Eldoret National Show.

With the National Show just around the corner, the Harvest Festival was a fitting prelude, inspiring optimism and a sense of purpose as the agricultural community prepares to showcase innovation, technology, and progress in the sector.
