In a bid to foster greater interest in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) fields, Eng. Ingaiza Annette Murambi, a Council Member of the Institution of Engineers of Kenya and Future Leaders Chair, visited Kapenguria Boys High School to engage students and share her inspiring journey in STEM.
The mentorship program, which was organized by Eng. Murambi, aimed at encouraging young minds to excel in their studies and consider STEM careers as a pathway to future innovations. Throughout her visit, Eng. Murambi interacted with students by sharing her personal experiences in the STEM field, highlighting the vast opportunities and the importance of hard work, resilience, and dedication.
“I stand before you today as a testament to the power of determination. The journey to success in STEM is not always easy, but with hard work, focus, and persistence, anything is possible,” Eng. Murambi told the students. She further emphasized the need for increased representation in STEM fields, particularly from underrepresented regions like West Pokot County.
The event was not just a lecture but an interactive session, where students had the opportunity to ask questions and express their aspirations. Eng. Murambi encouraged the students to explore their interests, study hard, and aim high, assuring them that they, too, could be future leaders and innovators in their communities and beyond.
Eng. Murambi’s message resonated deeply with the students, many of whom left the session feeling empowered and motivated. “I never thought about STEM as a possible career path until today. I now realize that with passion and hard work, I can contribute to my community and make a difference,” said one of the students.
The impact of the mentorship program was palpable, as students walked away with renewed hope and a sense of possibility. The session underscored the significant role mentorship plays in bridging the educational gap in STEM fields, particularly for young people in remote and underrepresented areas.
Ingaiza Murambi’s visit to Kapenguria Boys High School was a vital step toward building a future where young people from all corners of Kenya are empowered to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Through mentorship, Eng. Murambi hopes to inspire a new generation of innovators who will drive progress and transformation in the country.
In addition to her visit to Kapenguria Boys, Eng. Murambi also extended her mentorship efforts to Tartar Girls High School in the same county, furthering her commitment to encouraging the next generation of STEM leaders.
