Former West Pokot Governor, John Lonyangapuo, and his 5G team have demonstrated the true spirit of unity and community by donating foodstuffs to Muslims at the Makutano Iqra Mosque as they observe the final days of this year’s Holy Month of Ramadhan and prepare for the upcoming Idd Ul Fitr celebrations on Monday.

Joined by his 5G team principals, Hon. Peter Lochakapong’, Hon. Samuel Moroto CBS, and Kapenguria MCA Richard Mastaluk, Lonyangapuo emphasized that sharing with brothers and sisters of other faiths is a core principle of the 5G team ideology. "Together, as a united community, we must foster brotherhood and support each other, especially during sacred times like Ramadhan," Lonyangapuo said during the donation.

The foodstuffs, which included staple items needed for the celebration of Idd Ul Fitr, were handed over to the mosque as a gesture of goodwill and solidarity. The donation is part of the team’s ongoing efforts to promote peace, unity, and mutual respect among the diverse communities in West Pokot County.

"We are here today to share in the joy and blessings of Ramadhan with our Muslim brothers and sisters," Lonyangapuo continued. "It is important that, as we celebrate our faiths, we come together as one community, supporting and uplifting each other in every way possible."

The leaders expressed their heartfelt wishes to the Muslim community, ahead of the Idd Ul Fitr celebrations, which mark the end of Ramadhan. "On behalf of my team, I would like to wish all our Muslim brothers and sisters a blessed Idd Mubarak in advance. May this special time bring peace, joy, and prosperity to you and your families," Lonyangapuo added.

The donation and the leaders' presence at the mosque were met with gratitude from the Muslim community, who appreciated the gesture and the spirit of interfaith cooperation.

"As we approach the end of this blessed month of Ramadhan, it is heartwarming to see our leaders come together to support us during this important time," said one of the mosque’s leaders. "We thank the 5G team for this kind gesture and wish them continued success in their efforts to bring communities together."

The event highlighted the importance of unity, empathy, and mutual respect among different faiths in West Pokot and beyond. As Idd Ul Fitr approaches, Lonyangapuo and his team are hopeful that this spirit of cooperation will inspire other leaders and communities across the region.
