Outgoing Principal Secretary for Shipping and Maritime Affairs, Geoffrey Kaituko, has concluded his tenure in the State Department on a high note, earning a distinguished recognition for his exemplary service. On Friday evening, Kaituko was honored with the prestigious “StarLeader of the Year Award for 2025,” a recognition given to top-performing leaders in government, including Cabinet Secretaries, Principal Secretaries, Governors, Senators, and Members of Parliament.
Expressing his gratitude, Kaituko credited the remarkable transformation in the Shipping and Maritime sector to the dedication and hard work of his team. “This evening, I was honored with the ‘StarLeader of the Year Award for 2025’ for outstanding performance during my tenure as Principal Secretary, Shipping and Maritime Affairs. I am deeply grateful to all members of my team in the Shipping and Maritime State Department for their incredible support and dedication, which has led to the remarkable progress in this crucial sector,” he remarked.
During his tenure, Kaituko spearheaded key initiatives aimed at enhancing Kenya’s maritime industry, strengthening regulatory frameworks, and fostering international partnerships. His leadership has been instrumental in positioning Kenya as a competitive player in the global shipping and maritime landscape.
As he transitions into a new role as a Diplomat, Kaituko reflected on his time as PS with immense pride. “I dedicate this award to my team, whose unwavering commitment has made this achievement possible. As I embark on my next assignment, I am proud to have completed my tenure on such a positive and rewarding note.”
