Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii has been awarded the title of Most Innovative Governor in Kenya by the Pollster Rankings, an honor that highlights his exceptional leadership and forward-thinking initiatives aimed at improving the lives of residents in his county.
Governor Bii’s recognition comes as a result of his game-changing programs, which have revolutionized agriculture and education in Uasin Gishu. Among the key initiatives that earned him this prestigious award are the "Maziwa ni Fees" program, which allows farmers to pay school fees using milk, and the School Milk Program, which benefits over 40,000 Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) learners every Tuesday and Thursday.
In response to the award, Governor Bii expressed his gratitude, stating, “This reaffirms our continued commitment to transformative leadership and practical solutions. We will work even harder to deliver more impactful initiatives for our people.”
The "Maziwa ni Fees" program has been particularly groundbreaking, offering a sustainable solution to two pressing challenges: the financial burden of school fees and the need to support local farmers. By allowing parents to pay fees with milk, the initiative ensures that children receive an education while also boosting the local dairy industry.
Meanwhile, the School Milk Program has seen a steady increase in the number of children benefiting from the initiative, with thousands of young learners receiving nutritious milk every week. This program aims to improve the health and nutrition of children while enhancing their concentration in school.
Governor Bii's award underscores the continued commitment of Uasin Gishu County to innovative solutions that address local challenges and promote long-term development. As he looks to the future, he remains focused on delivering more impactful programs to uplift the people of Uasin Gishu.
